My Art Work

My chief influences are several Hudson River School artists, such as Thomas Cole and Thomas Whittredge. Also influencing me are the Barbizon painters, Millet in particular. J. M. W. Turner, the great English landscape painter remains one of my favorites. These artists were often inspiration for creating my own city views and landscapes from different places, such as: New York, Wisconsin, Ireland and other areas.

I have created a new type of landscape which blends several environments into a new setting. It is a kind of "stagecraft" that evolves often with groups of people and scenes selected in such a way as to create activity and drama. The setting for each painting is often inspired from photographs, observations, and memories.

I have always enjoyed creating pen and ink drawings. It began by drawing Christmas cards to send to relatives and friends... which has become a tradition in our family. Besides Christmas/holiday cards, pen and ink drawings also lend themselves very well to invitations, especially wedding invitations, receptions cards, programs, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthdays, retirements, etc. This is an original and creative approach to make a special event very distinctive.
